In the local language, “Gahana” means "Jewel". Gahana Orchards is the ancestral home of the Mehra family, built by ADC (Aide-de-Camp) Bacchi Singh Mehra, who was the right hand man to the Maharaja Jind of Patiala before Indian Independance and until 1966. This georgeous property is spread over more than 250 acres of orchards with plums, peaches, apricot, pear and apple trees. The variety of flora and fauna consists of Oak, Cedars and Kafal trees and a significant bird species such as Fork tails, Woodpeckers, Pheasant, Partridges, Redstart, Flycatcher, Magpie, Raptors are to be found. Generally considered a moderately challenging route from the parking, it takes an average of 15 to 20 min to reach in one of our properties. This beautifully wooded trail is great for hiking and walking.
